Let us have a little chat. Have you ever looked at a current trend and wondered to yourself... Why is this not always a trend? This is my exact feels about dresses and sneakers. Combining cute, comfy and functional to create the ultimate chic outfit. And on that note, has your instagram been bombarded with photos of bloggers and celebrities in slip dresses? Wow, me too! And after a long debate with myself whether I should give into the trend, I finally gave in...
Slip dresses, being all the rage that they are, are beautiful. So feminine. So powerful. So effortless. It looks like you've just don't care what anyone else thinks while looking absolutely stunning. I went for a slip dress with not much shape to it, but with a lovely open neckline (so you can rock it bra-less or push up, however you prefer)
Next thing we need to discuss is my utter OBSESSION with these Adidas Original Stan Smiths. Yes they are a men's shoe. Are there any f*cks given? And if you're judging me right now, just remember that every one of the world's style icons are known to dress in an androgynous manner.

Can you feel the sunshine on your face? Its finally SPRING!
Goodbye long pants, long coats and pale skin! This winter was a rather cold one, and now spring just hit us all like a ton of bricks. More sun exposure, along with dry confused skin from the cold winter can leave the skin very distressed. I decided to share with you my favourite products I use during my winter>spring transition, with links to all these products.
Here are my top tips to forget winter skin blues, and revive your beautiful glowing skin...
As a person who basically lives in short denim shorts pretty much 10/12 months a year, my biggest issue with the winter>spring transition is the fact that my legs get very pale without sunlight. Now I'm proudly Belarusian so when I say pale, I mean blanched-A4-white-paper pale. So to revive healthy happy looking skin all over my body, I always start with good old prep work. A moisturising scrub is a must, so try The Body Shop's Shea Butter Body Scrub or The Body Shop's Dead Sea Salt Scrub from their lovely new Spa of The World range.
Next step is to apply a good self-tanner. In my many years' experience with self tanning, what I find works the best is a gradual glow body cream, or a mousse which can be applied with a mitt or hands (as long as you remember to wash them thoroughly afterwards). My favourites are, Caribbean Tan Gradual Tan Bronzing Mousse, as well as the Vichy Capital Soleil Auto Bronzant. The Vichy is best for a subtle healthy glow and brilliant as a face tanner too!
Even with a rigorous skin-care routine I find that my skin needs a little extra pampering during this time of year. I find my skin goes through a little bit of a dull moment in September, so I try go for a brightening face mask like the Skin Republic Brightening Face Mask Sheet. This one is particularly great because its enriched with Vitamin C, E, plant extracts and packed with antioxidants. If my skin is still looking a little glum, I apply 3 drops of the L'oreal Extraordinary Face Oil before applying my daily SPF or makeup.
Truth be told, I've never gotten into the habit of applying a seperate SPF on my face. So instead, I chose a daily moisturiser with an SPF as well as wearing a BB cream with SPF. This Vichy Idealia BB cream with SPF 25 is your #1 go to for an all-rounder no-fuss everyday moisturiser, foundation, SPF and glow enhancer!
You might also notice that I did not include a facial scrub to buff away any winter flaky skin... There is reason to my madness I assure you. Having acne-prone skin, scrubs and I do not mix. After a couple of visits to my dermatologist I have also found out that it is one of the worst things to frequently do to your facial skin that oh so many women do it still. There is nothing wrong with using a buffing micr-bead scrub once a month. However, when you're using a coarse scrub almost daily it can really take a toll on your skin's health in the long term. "But how do I exfoliate to reveal healthy glowing skin?" I hear you asking yourself in your head as you read this.
The answer is simple - Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs). Its basically a very gentle acidic cream you apply to your face that takes care of the entire dead skin cells situation, while improving rough skin texture and dark spots in the long-run. I recommend the Uriage Hyseac K18 Cream, which is so gentle, smells so good, and I can say from 1st hand experience played a massive role in smoothing out my post-acne skin texture.

After recently turning 21, I decided it was time to start taking foundations seriously. Don't get me wrong, I've always been very selective of what I put on my face (thanks premature ageing paranoia). I decided it was time for a change and splurge on something that promises not only great-looking skin but actually gives great skin too.
Now, the decision on this purchase was not a completely blind one. I've tried this foundation once before, years ago, when I'd forgotten my makeup bag at my house and my boyfriend's mother was kind enough to share her amazing makeup consisting of literally nothing but Bobbi Brown.
The Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick also has quite the reputation. Not only has it won multiple awards, but is one of the most iconic foundations in makeup history. This foundation also comes in 31 shades, making it the perfect foundation for women of colour.
Now, when I tell you that this foundation covers everything - I mean it literally. covers. everything. I have never been so happy in my entire life - goodbye 1000 cakey concealers!
After a week of playing around with this bad boy, I have found the perfect foundation routine:
After cleaning your face with soap-free cleanser, you have to decide what your skin needs that day based on skin type. This foundation is crazy moisturising, so I'd be very weary of hydrating primers unless your skin is so dry its about to crack. Do however wear SPF if you're using this during the day. For me, I got the best result from an organic moisturiser made for combo skin that actually minimises pores and reduces all shine (and I have dehydrated skin!)
Then open the stick, and go wild with tribal face paint designs. Be sure to start applying onto the parts of your face that need the most coverage, and then just blending towards the areas of your face were you have better, clearer skin. Then start blending! Apply a little more to the parts of your face that you feel need more coverage, or get some on your finger and tap on a pigmentation mark/zit that you want to cover, like a concealer.
The best tools for this foundation:
- Real Techniques Foundation Brush
- Bobbi Brown Foundation Brush
(I do not recommend a damp sponge due to the olive oil extracts in the foundation)
Overall Comment: Super Impressed!
